Priya Purushothaman is a young Hindustani Vocalist based in Banglore. Since 2003 she is been training with Smt Aditi Kaikini Upadhya. Her tutelage was supplemented with advanced training from stalwart musician and scholar, Pandit Dinkar Kaikini, in Mumbai. Before studying Hindustani Ragsangit, Priya trained extensively in both Carnatic vocal music and Western classical violin. She has performed in noted venues around India and United States and is committed to increasing awarness about Hindustani music through performance, teaching and educational outreach. Priya was raised in New York and graduated from Columbia University with degree in Economics, Philosophy and Creative Writing.
